STUDY TIPS THAT ACTUALLY WORK

If you clicked on this post, chances are that you probably have a text or exam coming up and you want to get an A+.As a person who persuaded science after high school i have tried it all.

Pomodoro method.

Highlighting.

Flashcards.

you name all of them.

I am not going to waste your time that is why in this blog i want to share the 3 study tips that i used and that actually works. If you are in high school or university this tips will literally save you hours and hours of stress and pain and you will be able to get an A+ on your exams with ease

1.Active recall

What is active recall? It simply means that instead of just reading a textbook , you're learning though answering You are studying through doing past oaper And the reason why this is very effective is because of the forgetting curve which is basically a concept that says 'We quickly forget information unless we constantly practice it.So what does this mean? It means that if all you do to study your exams is just reading the textbook or watching some random YouTube video , You're wasting your time.

Instead what you want to do is gamify your studying and it is so easy guys to gamify your studying with active recall.

3 EASY THINGS YOU CAN DO

1.Make a quizlet

Basically from you class notes or from the lecture's slides you want to transform those notes into fun flashcards where your main objective is to get as many questions right as fast as possible almost like you are playing a video game. Also pro tip you can use Chat GPT and AI to transform your notes into questions.

It is really easy to do and it also saves a lot of time as well as really effective.

2. Past paper exams

This one is probably the best method to study for almost any class present. And the reason why is because you are basically studying in the same format and structure of your real exam and most of the time 80 to 90 percent of the question that will come out on your exam will be the same or the very least the concepts will be the exact same.So basically put this Past Paper exams as a first high priority.

Also when you are doing this past papers, Don't do them like an idiot where you are just lying to yourself and looking at the memorandum and look at the question pretending like you clearly know that information when you clearly don't.Put away all of your notes and read the question and then try to answer it by yourself then if you still can't get the answer that's where you will pull out your notes and check for the answer.

Guys i know that this method can take longer but it is really worth it because you don't have to do it repeatedly. So at the end of the day,it actually takes the least amount of time and it is so so effective.

3. FEYNMAN TECHNIQUE

It is basically where you teach the information and try to break it down into 5th grade terms .By teaching what you are studying it makes you better understand it because you are forced to make it much more simpler.Of course if you have a friend who takes the same class as you do then this would be easy as you would just ask each other questions while walking to class or maybe chilling.

But honestly speaking you don't need to do this with an actual person to get all the benefits. You can just pretend to talk to someone or maybe grab a doll there and then record your own voice on your phone and playback that recording to yourself talking about a certain concept and maybe even transcribe it .By doing this you're forcing yourself to make that long complicated physics equation into a very Easy to understand term.

im

If you follow this 3 active recall strategies then i can guarantee you that you guys will be killing your exams very easily.

2.SPACED REPETITION

Spaced repetition actually works better with active recall. So basically what you want to do is that you study over increasing intervals of time to improve your long term memory. Spaced repetition allows you to feel much more relaxed when you are studying for exams. It is not like when you are panicking abd cramming the night before the test or exam.

I personally find 3 is the magic number when it comes to spaced repetition for example,if you have flashcards on quizlet ,you want to be able to do it 3 times and that is where you are going to get the most optimal benefits. The same thing goes for past paper exams, just do that same math paper 3 times and get faster each time , almost like it's muscle memory .Ideally you want to try to do this in 3 separate days where you are allowing your brain to Sleep and Process that information.

So let's say that you have an exam in the upcoming next two weeks, maybe tomorrow you do that first practice paper, then in a week you do the same practice paper then the day before your exams you do that again.By doing spaced repetition, you are defeating the forgetting curve and especially if you combine it with active recall you will literally

become unstoppable.

3. Priming and optimized breaks

so what is priming. It is basically when you try to manipulate your own mind to feel more focused and to be productive and you can definitely do this in 2 Easy ways

1. Close your eyes

Close your eyes for 30 seconds to 1 minute and just visualising the big picture on why studying your class is very important .You wanna visualise yourself knowing all that information as an academic weapon and being able to ace that exam or test.By doing this you're creating meaning in what you're studying and you're tricking your brain into thinking that studying is easier .

2 . Listen to music

Now o personally I like listening to hip hop or binary music on Spotify just to make my brain relax. But you can also listen to anything from classical music to house music to RnB music,it honestly depends on your personal preference. The point here is you want to get yourself excited to study. Now you also want to integrate Optimized breaks.A couple of key things you need to know

First the time studying does not equal to the knowledge that will be gained,I don't care if you study 12 hours a day or even pull an all nighter, for me it's not a flex.I would much rather just study for 2 to 3 hours but i am fully focused and i am also studying with effective Active recall principles

Secondly use naps, short ones like 20 to 30 minutes whenever when you have free time in between classes or after lunch or you can also do NSDR "Non Sleep Deep Rest" . There's lots of research and benefits to NSDR.Dr Andrew Huberman recommends it and i would recommend trying out the video of Non-Sleep Deel Rest if you are just getting started. If you integrate Priming and optimized breaks into your study routine, you'll be able to make studying much more fun and easy. And if you follow all of this steps in this blog 'Active recall, Spaced repetition, Priming and optimized breaks ' I have zero doubt that you guys will ace your exams

That is gonna be it for this blog and i hope you guys got lots of value from it and you can also comment down your opinion about this blog. I'll then see you in the next blog.
